WELCOME TO LITTLE PICKLES PRE-SCHOOL

We provide a safe and creative setting for children to explore, learn and develop in their early years, in order to maximise their development and growth opportunities.

OUR CHILDREN TAKE THE LEAD ON THEIR LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT

We strive to create an engaging, inviting environment for all our children, actively promoting ‘awe and wonder’ throughout our curriculum, and believe that curiosity creates something to be explored and celebrated at every opportunity. We endeavour to create a home from home environment for our children where the children are listened to and are all at the centre of everything we do.

Our staff know our children well and provide for their needs to help them to become confident learners while following the curriculum guidance as set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage document.

OUR ENVIRONMENT

We actively promote awe and wonder throughout our curriculum and believe that curiosity creates something to be explored and celebrated at every opportunity. Team members encourage the children to think critically and support play as and when required. ‘Loose parts play’ is used to enable children to use open ended resources.

Natural resources are used throughout our setting to encourage active learning, making the most of the environment with outside play encouraged throughout the seasons.

Children are encouraged to share their interests which feed into the activities and themes that are planned, they are allowed space to play and extend ideas with uninterrupted play as much as possible.

PARENTS AS PARTNERS

All children are offered pre-visits upon starting with us to help settle them in and for us to build relationships with parents. Monthly newsletters provide updates on any extra curricular activities, while parents evenings and use of an online learning journal allow key workers to connect with parents, and stay and plays offer opportunities for parents to spend time within the setting.

If additional needs or support requirements are identified then our team will work closely with parents and appointments with key support networks can be offered upon request.

WE NEED YOU…

Little (and Big) Pickles is a not-for-profit charity. Any money we make goes towards the cost of running the centres as well as improvements that directly benefit our children. Our childcare centres therefore wouldn’t exist without our team of trustees and we need you!

Becoming a trustee is incredibly rewarding; you can help to make everything we do possible, as well as meeting new people in your area, volunteering as much, or as little time as you want.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO PACK?

Little Pickles Pre-School offers a healthy morning snack but we ask that parents provide the following:

  • A packed lunch.

  • Water bottle.

  • Nappies and wipes (if required).

  • Spare change of clothes (with names in please). Uniform isn’t compulsory but we do sell a few items so that you can save your nice clothes for home! Take a look at our uniform here.

  • Coat and wellies for play in the rain and mud kitchen.
