Daily Routine
Each day we follow a routine throughout the session. An example of this is shown here:

Pre-School opens at 9.30am. On entering the Pre-School children are asked to select their name card from the table and post it in the red post box, this helps them to begin name and picture recognition. The Pre-School staff are always on hand should you wish to discuss anything regarding your child that may prove useful or if you have any queries or comments. Children are then encouraged to sit together in a group for a short time where a member of staff takes the register and where we can all discuss what day of the week it is, the weather and any ‘news’ of interest.
The children then go in to groups with their key person for a focused activity of 10-20 minutes. After this time they are encouraged to choose any of the activities set out in the hall. Activities are designed to help children in all areas of the curriculum. We have designated areas for crafts, construction, role play, problem solving, mark making and soft play to name but a few.
From 10.15am until 11am the “Little Pickles Snack Bar” is open. The children independently wash their hands and serve themselves with the fresh fruit and vegetables available. Milk, water and the occasional treat of crumpets or tea cakes are also available. This is all done under the supervision of one of our staff.
At around 11.10am we have “Tidy Up Time” where all of the children are encouraged to help put away the toys in the correct places. The children then go outside as a whole group for a variety of activities such as physical play, investigation, walks around the field and playing on the park. We make the most of our environment and any sun, snow or windy weather it may bring.
At 11.55am we go back inside to sit down and share stories and discuss any show and tell items which have been brought from home. As the session draws to an end we sing and join in with nursery rhymes and get given any belongings or pictures the children may have made or brought from home.
